Honda’s dominance in the 250 class continues with back-to-back titles for Connolly!
Honda Racing Australia has once again proven its strength in the MX2 class, securing a fifth consecutive championship, this time with defending champion Polyflor Honda’s Brodie Connolly. The New Zealander joins an elite list of Honda riders including Kyle Webster (2021) and Wilson Todd (2022–2023), solidifying Honda’s stronghold on the 250cc category.
While Connolly’s season was marked by success, it wasn’t without its challenges. A dramatic crash in race two of the opening round nearly ended his campaign before it began.
“That crash could have taken both me and my closest rival out for the season. It was a wake-up call early on,” said Connolly.
In round two, Connolly crossed the line first in both motos but was penalised three positions in the final standings—a controversial decision that Honda formally appealed.
“Brodie was clearly the dominant rider in round two. The demotion, especially after the other rider admitted to forcing him off the track, felt unjust. While we lost the appeal, we stayed focused on the bigger picture—the championship,” said Team Director Yarrive Konsky. “I stand by my riders when I believe they’ve done the right thing.”
From there, Connolly mounted an unstoppable charge:
Round 3 (Gilman, SA): 1-2 finishes despite a mistake in moto two.
Round 4 (Traralgon): Clean sweep with 1-1 results.
Round 5 (Warwick): 1-4 finishes after a turn-one crash, fighting back from last to fourth in moto two.
Round 6 (Canberra): Another perfect 1-1 result.
Round 7 (Penultimate round): Yet another 1-1 finish, sealing the championship with a round to spare.
Connolly has now won 12 of 14 motos and qualified fastest at every round of the 2025 championship—an extraordinary feat.
“What a season—and we’re not done yet,” said Connolly. “There’s so much hard work that people don’t see behind the scenes. I’m grateful to my mechanic, the team, and everyone who helps make this possible. I’m looking forward to QMP and hopefully finishing the year strong. After that, I hope to race the final three rounds of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.”
Team Director Yarrive Konsky shared Connolly’s sentiment, acknowledging the collective effort behind the results:
“This championship is a reflection of our entire program—riders, mechanics, trainers, doctors, sponsors, content creators. Everyone plays a vital role. We operate as one, and this is a result we can all be proud of,” said Konsky.
As the team heads into the final round at QMP, Honda riders continue to lead all major classes—testament to the depth and discipline of the red riders.
