Webster Returns for More in New Zealand Motocross Campaign!
Reigning back-to-back Australian Champion Kyle Webster has made a strong start to his New Zealand campaign, contesting Round 3 of the New Zealand Motocross Championship in Tauranga with the support of Honda New Zealand, AMX Superstores, and Quad Lock. The international appearance forms a key part of Webster’s preparation for the upcoming Australian Motocross Championship.
AMX Superstores were quick to back Webster’s New Zealand campaign, recognising both the commercial and competitive opportunity. General Manager Rob Farrimond emphasised the strategic importance of the move.

“New Zealand is a strong market for motocross and motorcycling, and when the opportunity came up to support Kyle racing here, we jumped at it. Expanding the AMX presence into New Zealand aligns with our growing online customer base, and supporting a champion like Kyle makes it an easy decision,” Farrimond said.
Webster qualified an impressive second, navigating the challenge of learning a new circuit in limited time.

“The New Zealand championship is well run and full of quality riders. The biggest challenge for me is arriving at a new track with limited time and resources to adapt. The surface was slippery on top, so I had to be a little measured early on,” Webster explained.
Race one showed early promise before a mistake saw Webster crash heavily into a wall. Remounting quickly, he charged back through but was unable to close the gap to race winner Maximus Purvis.

Race two followed a similar pattern, with Webster again fighting back from a crash. Despite setting the fastest lap of the race, he was forced to settle behind Purvis once more.
In the final moto, Webster took a more calculated approach, opting for consistency over risk. The strategy paid off with a second-place finish, securing second overall for the round.
“If I’m not winning, I’m learning. These races are about improving every aspect of my riding and racing. We learned a lot this weekend, especially running a completely stock 450 compared to my race bike back home. We made progress with the setup and understanding different track conditions. Max rode really well, and I know I need to keep adapting to different terrains. I’m looking forward to the next round and continuing to build,” Webster said.

With valuable track time, technical insight, and international experience gained, Webster now turns his focus to the next round this weekend in Rotorua, continuing his momentum toward the Australian season.
