Honda’s Factory Motocross Team returned to the top step at Round 3 of the Australian ProMX Championship, claiming victories across all three classes alongside title partner ATTARDS, Australia’s truck curtain and fleet graphics specialists.

The historic Gilman Motocross Track, located just outside the Adelaide CBD, has hosted Australian Championship racing for more than 30 years. Traditionally known for its deep sand and rough conditions, this year’s circuit was prepared differently, featuring a firmer, more technical base that challenged riders throughout the day.

“I can’t remember it being this hard and slippery underneath,” explained MX1 rider Kyle Webster. “They didn’t rip it as deep as they usually do. Overall it was great, but definitely not the usual Gilman track we are used to.”

The ATTARDS Honda Racing Team lined up in full force with six riders spread across the MX1, MX2 and MX3 categories.

Qualifying proved promising. Webster qualified second in MX1, while Wilson Todd secured fourth. In MX2, the team occupied first, third and ninth respectively with Alex Larwood, Ryder Kingsford and championship leader Kayd Kingsford.

Kayd’s effort alone was remarkable. Following a training incident the previous Wednesday, he suffered a broken collarbone requiring immediate surgery. With only days to recover, the MX2 points leader still lined up to race at Gilman.

“I didn’t know what to expect,” said Kingsford. “I rode conservatively in practice and qualifying, just trying to get comfortable. The pain was real.”

Meanwhile, the team’s sole MX3 entrant, Heath Fisher, qualified fifth.

MX2 — Larwood Dominates

MX2 opened the racing program and Larwood delivered one of the strongest rides of his career, winning the opening moto by more than 15 seconds in commanding fashion.

“It’s nice, it’s all coming together,” said Larwood. “The bike, the team, everything. It’s easy for people to forget the injuries I’ve had in the past, but I’ve been fortunate to have great people stick by me. It’s nice to reward everyone like this.”

Behind him, Ryder and Kayd Kingsford battled through the pack to finish fifth and sixth respectively, an especially impressive performance from Kayd given his condition.

In race two, Ryder grabbed the holeshot and led early before Larwood surged past and pulled away once again. Ryder secured his best finish of the season, while Kayd fought through the pain to finish eighth.
Larwood’s perfect weekend also saw him reclaim the championship red plate.

“It was a perfect weekend in my home state,” he added. “Having family and friends there made it special. There have been plenty of highs and lows, and to do it on Mother’s Day with Mum there, she hasn’t missed many races in my career, made it even more meaningful.”

Ryder Kingsford felt the team’s preparation was beginning to pay dividends.

“We’ve been extremely focused on improving,” said Ryder. “We raced and tested here a few weeks ago and it was clear we had made progress.”

For Kayd, simply finishing the weekend was a victory in itself.

“This weekend tested me,” he admitted. “Honestly, I learned a lot about myself. The team physios were incredible, my family were amazing, and we salvaged important points. We’re still in the championship fight and there are positives to take away.”

Fisher Breaks Through in MX3

Heath Fisher delivered a breakout performance in MX3, dominating both motos to secure the overall victory.
Following injury setbacks over the past two seasons racing overseas, Fisher and the team entered 2026 with a long-term rebuilding plan. Gilman was initially marked as the round where the goal was simply to contend for a podium.

Instead, Fisher exceeded expectations.

“We haven’t stopped racing or training,” Fisher explained. “I’ve done six races before and during the nationals trying to get up to speed as quickly as possible. We still aren’t where we want to be physically, I got tired in both motos, but I’m happy with the direction we’re heading.

“We still have ten point-scoring races remaining, and while we’ve moved to second in the championship, there’s still a gap to first. We have a plan and we’ll keep building.”

Webster Returns to the Top

In MX1, Webster returned to the winner’s circle with victory in race one and a strong second-place finish in race two, securing the overall win.

Despite the result, the reigning champion believes there is still more to come.

“I’m happy to take the win, but we still have work to do,” Webster admitted. “The speed has been there all season, but mistakes have hurt me. I probably rode too conservatively this weekend trying not to make errors, and that stopped me from riding naturally and aggressively.”

Wilson Todd also returned to the podium for the first time this season with third overall.

“It’s my best result of the year, but I’m still frustrated because I know where I want to be,” said Todd. “Fitness doesn’t come back overnight after injury. We’re improving, but there’s still a lot of work ahead.”

Honda Focused on the Bigger Picture

Team Director Yarrive Konsky praised the effort of the entire program while acknowledging the team’s biggest gains will come from continuing to evolve.

“Ultimately our competition has steadily improved and we still have work to do,” said Konsky. “Winning all three classes is something we should be proud of, but none of it came easily.

“Alex is riding incredibly well. Kayd impressed me enormously this weekend, his resilience and courage changed how I perceive him as a racer. Ryder is finding his way back to form. Heath has followed the process we laid out, but physically he still has another level to reach.

“Our 450 program requires the most focus right now. Wilson knows fitness is the biggest factor and we need to stay patient because I know how talented he is. Kyle and the team also need to work through some areas so he can race with the same raw speed and aggression that delivered back-to-back championships and standout rides at the Motocross of Nations.”

The next round of the Australian ProMX Championship heads to Toowoomba in two weeks.
