TWO LEADERS. ONE PERFORMANCE MINDSET.
Specialized and Honda Racing unite through a shared commitment to performance
Specialized and Factory Honda Racing Australia have joined forces in a long-term partnership built on a shared belief: performance is earned through preparation, repetition, commitment and the pursuit of excellence.
While bicycles and motorcycles deliver different experiences, the connection between the two is unmistakable. For motocross racers, cycling is far more than a pastime. It is an important part of their physical preparation, recovery and ongoing development as athletes.
Motocross riders are among the most physically demanding athletes in motorsport. Racing requires exceptional cardiovascular fitness, strength, muscular endurance, coordination, balance and the ability to make split-second decisions while managing fatigue at high speed. A race can push riders to their physical limits, making the work completed away from the track just as important as the laps completed on it.
Road cycling provides riders with a controlled, low-impact way to build aerobic fitness and develop endurance, while recovery rides help maintain movement and circulation without placing the same demands on the body as another intense training session. Mountain biking adds another dimension, challenging balance, bike control, reaction time and adaptability across changing terrain.
Together, these disciplines complement the demands of motocross, helping riders build the fitness and skills required to compete at the highest level.
Factory Honda Racing Australia Team Director Yarrive Konsky believes the partnership reflects a connection that extends beyond competition.
“Bicycles and motorcycles have the power to change lives physically, mentally and spiritually. There is something special about being on two wheels, feeling connected to the ground and experiencing speed, freedom and movement.
“People ride for different reasons, and that is what makes this partnership so relevant. Specialized offers experiences across road cycling, mountain biking, electric bikes and youth cycling, while Honda Racing is focused on developing athletes, pushing boundaries and winning championships.
“For our riders, cycling has a genuine purpose. It helps them prepare, recover and continue to improve. Specialized understands performance, and that shared mindset makes this a natural partnership.”
Specialized’s range spans road cycling, mountain biking, electric bikes and youth bicycles, providing options for athletes and enthusiasts at every stage of their riding journey.
Three-time Australian champion Kyle Webster, who has also represented Australia in two victorious international teams, sees the partnership as a natural fit for his training and life beyond the racetrack.
“There isn’t another brand I’d rather be aligned with. I use road cycling to build my fitness and support my recovery, while mountain biking keeps things fun and helps me maintain bike control, balance and quick reactions.
“At this level, you need to trust your equipment and know it can deliver when you’re asking everything of yourself. Specialized gives me that confidence across the different ways I ride.
“And when I want to switch off, have fun and really enjoy being on two wheels, I jump on my Turbo Levo 4 and head out for a hard, fast trail ride.”
Six-time Australian Women’s Champion Charli Cannon shares that enthusiasm, using cycling as an important part of her preparation and recovery.
“Cycling is a great way to stay in shape and keep working on recovery without always putting your body through the intensity of motocross training. I use my Levo and my Tarmac, so I’m lucky to have the best of both worlds.
“They give me different ways to train, recover and enjoy riding, and that’s something I really value.”
The partnership extends across the entire Factory Honda Racing Australia team, with riders and management embracing Specialized as part of their long-term approach to performance.
Specialized representative Nikki Clark welcomed the alignment, highlighting the commitment required to compete at the highest level.
“Motocross riders are some of the fittest and strongest athletes in sport. Their preparation is relentless, and the work they put in away from the track is a huge part of what makes them successful.
“We’re proud to be aligned with Factory Honda Racing Australia and excited to support the team as they continue to push themselves. There is a genuine connection between our brands, and we’re looking forward to seeing where this partnership goes.”
For Specialized and Honda Racing, the relationship is about more than putting two respected brands together. It is about recognising the crossover between cycling and motocross, supporting athletes in their pursuit of excellence and sharing a passion for the freedom,
challenge and performance that life on two wheels delivers.
Two leaders. One performance mindset.
